Has your cat been seen by a member of our veterinary team and diagnosed with a urinary issue? As part of their treatment plan your vet may have recommended that you have a follow up assessment with our qualified nursing team at a urinary wellness clinic for cats.
The 30-minute consultation is designed to complement your cat’s medical treatment, with an aim to significantly reduce future urinary problems. As urinary issues can be a sign of stress, we’ll focus on your cat’s behaviour, how your home is set up for your cat, and whether there have been any significant changes to your household.
We’ll then make recommendations on changes that you can implement to help make your cat less prone to urinary issues in the future. Often these recommended changes are quite small, but they can have a significant impact on your cat’s wellbeing and stress level.
Typical outcomes we’ve seen after the clinic’s recommendations have been implemented are:
- fewer urinary infections
- fewer visits to the vet, meaning lower vet bills
- significant reduction (and sometimes complete elimination) or urinary accidents
- less prone to over-grooming
Please note that urinary clinics are only appropriate if your cat is stable and has been referred to the nursing team by your vet; you will not be offered a nurse-led appointment if your cat is experiencing any clinical symptoms.
Cost
The price is fixed at only £50 for your first 30-minute consultation; then £30 for a second follow-up consultation to assess progress and make changes to the plan if necessary. These consultations can be carried out over the phone or in person.

Urinary issues can be a medical emergency. If your cat is experiencing any of the following symptoms they must see a vet.
- Difficult or painful urination – your cat may strain to pass urine and may sometimes cry out.
- Blood in the urine or a pink tinge the urine.
- Straining to pass urine. You may notice they are getting in and out of the litterbox. This can indicate a physical or functional blockage. This is seen mainly in male cats, as their urethras are longer and narrower than in female cats, and so more likely to become blocked. Although not common, if this occurs it should be treated as an emergency, and you should call your vet immediately.
- Unusually frequent urination.
- Urinating in odd places, i.e. around the house.
- Behavioural changes such as aggression or irritation.
- Over-grooming, particularly around their bottom. You may notice they are losing hair.
