Independent, family-run and celebrating 20 years in Oxford. Could you be our next nurse?
This year, Oxford Cat Clinic celebrates its 20th birthday, and we’re looking for a registered veterinary nurse to join our team!
If you love working with cats but don’t want to leave general practice behind, this role offers both. You’ll be based mainly at Oxford Cat Clinic in Botley, with regular shifts at Oxford Vet Clinic in Marston to keep your skills with other species in use.
Being independent matters to us. We know our team, our clients and their pets, and we make our decisions here in the practice. We want to provide good, thoughtful veterinary care, with time to listen and offer options that work for each pet and their owner.
There are no sales targets or expectations to upsell. However, as busy practices, we expect everyone to work hard, support each other, and respond to the needs of our patients and clients throughout the day.
Two practices, one team
Oxford Cat Clinic opened in Botley in 2006, followed by our Marston branch in 2017.
Following a full refurbishment towards the end of 2025, Marston reopened as Oxford Vet Clinic, welcoming dogs, cats and other small pets. We’ve put a lot of thought into this new venture, keeping visits comfortable for our feline patients, with separate cat waiting areas, consulting rooms and a ward, alongside facilities for dogs and other small pets.
Botley remains exclusively for cats, with a wealth of feline experience within the team.
Our referral service is led by Martha Cannon, RCVS Specialist in Feline Medicine, and both practices work closely together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another.

If you’d like to work in an independent practice where you can get to know your patients, use your nursing skills and help shape how we work, I’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV and a short covering letter telling us a little about yourself and why the role appeals to you to headnurse@oxfordcatclinic.co.uk.
You’re also welcome to call 01865 243000 asking for either Tilly, our lead nurse, or myself, Mel, the owner, for an informal chat.

A role where you can use your nursing skills
Our nurses play a big part in the care we provide, and we want them to have opportunities to use and develop their skills.
Nurse consultations are a growing part of our day. Our Lifetime Care Club includes six-month health checks and routine nursing appointments, while our Unlimited plan includes unlimited consultations with our vets and nurses.
These appointments give our nurses the chance to get to know clients and their pets, offer advice and support their ongoing care. Client education is really important to us.
There is plenty of variety elsewhere too. Both clinics are equipped with in-house laboratory, endoscopy (shared), ultrasound, digital x-ray and dental x-ray. Dr Shivana Seemungal-Dass plans to develop our surgical offering at Oxford Vet Clinic and Anna Ducos brings her ophthalmology skills to both clinics.
We value continued learning and development. Our lead RVN is currently completing a Level 6 advanced veterinary nursing practitioner certificate with the Royal Veterinary College, and we’re keen to support our nurses in developing their interests.
What matters to us
We’re a team of 19 across the two practices. Like any small practice, we rely on each other, and everyone’s contribution matters.
Some days run smoothly, others need a bit more flexibility. That might mean helping on reception when it’s busy, supporting a colleague or adjusting priorities when an unwell patient needs us.
We’re looking for someone kind, reliable and willing to get involved. Someone who takes pride in their nursing, communicates well and understands that looking after one another is part of looking after our patients.
In return, you’ll be part of a practice where you can speak directly to the owners, contribute ideas and have your work recognised. We care about our team and want people to feel comfortable asking questions, offering suggestions and helping us improve.

What you’ll be doing
- Nurse consultations and health plan appointments.
- Inpatient care.
- Anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing.
- In-house laboratory work.
- Supporting reception when needed.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified veterinary nurse with RCVS registration.
- A calm, caring approach to patients and their owners.
- Good communication and a willingness to support colleagues.
- An interest in cat-friendly care, with support to build your confidence and skills.
