So, what is feline preventive healthcare?

The Oxford Cat Clinic recommends:

- Six monthly wellness review with a member of our nurse team
- Regular worm treatment tailored to your cat’s lifestyle
- Regular flea treatment
- A good quality complete diet for your cat’s life stage
- Regular weight checks
- Regular dental examinations
Included in the monthly plan costs…Giving you at least a 10% saving
- Annual core vaccinations tailored to your cat’s needs, including annual health assessment with a vet
- All flea and worm treatments as outlined in your plan
- Text reminders telling you it is time to apply your cat’s flea and worm products

Senior Plans 11 years plus
As your cat ages it is important for them to have additional wellness checks to keep them happy and healthy for as long as possible. Our senior plan includes an annual Silver Tails PLUS review (standard price to clients not a senior Cat’s Whiskers plan = £140). The plan includes the following:
- A urine sample is checked to look for protein, diabetes and kidney disease. You will be asked to bring your cat’s urine sample with you – The team are always happy to give you top collection tips!
- We will measure your cat’s blood pressure to ensure it is within normal limits to rule out any illness related with low or high blood pressure.
- A blood sample is collected to test major organs, blood cells, electrolytes and thyroid levels. We shave the neck or leg and apply a numbing cream to ensure your cat is relaxed as possible.
- Follow up telephone call with a vet to discuss results
- Checking your cat’s mobility, alertness and discussing any behavioural changes.
- Checking their weight, body condition and discussing their diet.
- Checking your cat’s heart and respiratory rate for signs of abnormalities.
- Checking their mouth and teeth for abnormalities and discussing dental care
- Checking their ears for parasites; hearing loss and cleaning advice if needed.
- Assessing your cat’s coat and skin to look for any parasites, deficiencies or dermatological problems.
- Checking that your cat’s nose is clean and clear.
- Cognitive function

Which plan is right for my cat?
First select your cat’s age or life circumstance
- Kitten/older (or un-neutered adult)
- Adult 1-11years (or older cat where you want to skip the Senior Plan benefits)
- Senior 11+ (or cat with already diagnosed long-term health condition).
- All our plans offer you a choice of how you apply your cat’s flea and worm treatment – tablet or spot on.
For Adult and Senior plans, then pick their lifestyle
- Indoor – worming twice a year
- Nature Lover – worming every 3 months; your cat may hunt but they don’t eat their victims!
- Hunter – worming is every 6 weeks; your cat hunts and likes to eat what they catch.
Don’t worry if this seems complicated, our team are here to help and guide you in choosing the right plan, and of course if things change your plan can change too.
